Untitled Stump - 1

This new wall piece, ‘Untitled Stump - 1’, was finished this week, the first of what is destined to be a stump series. This one has the distinct bell shaped flare at the base characteristic of a Western Red Cedar. While the tree is as much a Northwest Icon as the ubiquitous Chinook salmon, the stump doesn’t get much love. I aim to change that. At least to gain it some kind of grudging recognition.

Materials: Rough cut fir scraps, brass brads, luan plywood, birch plywood (base), with acrylic paints, stains and dead flat varnish.

Size: 58” wide x 35 ½” tall x 1 ⅝” deep.

Has both a french cleat and D-rings on the back for your choice of hanging methods. Appearing in the gallery section of this website soonly.

Right side of ‘Untitled Stump - 1’ Perhaps another title will suggest itself, but for the moment, that’s it.
