A Pear & a Shroom
Showing here a few older ‘kitchen paintings’ that after having gathered dust for some years in the studio, found a suitable place to be displayed out at The Lodge at Saint Edwards (Kenmore, WA). These two are part of a suite that were done on windows that I turned vertically, so they are all tall and narrow. Recently sold and soon to be shipped to California. I like knowing that they’ll be displayed together.
A few notes on my subjects here - The ‘Williams Pear’ is more commonly known as the Bartlett, and is the most commonly grown pear in North America. The classic. As for my use of the word Shroom here for the Inky Cap - no, these aren’t psychotropic at all. I just like the word. Inky Caps do happen to be edible though, but prepare them fast as otherwise they’ll turn to black mush. Don’t combine them with alcohol in any way though, the combination is guaranteed to make you ill because of the compound coprine, found in this type of mushroom.
