Winter Solstice
The recent painting ‘Winter Solstice’ was commissioned by the brother of Barbara Shain as a gift to her. Based on another recent (and very similar) work, this piece includes a burnt orange as the dominant accent color. This is an original painting on paper that builds in some collaged pieces of rice paper that I’ve treated separately first in various ways, using both acrylics and watercolors. An earlier piece featured in Drop Cloth several months ago, ‘Winter Crag’, had a similar composition using different colors. That one is still available (currently unframed).
