Ube Ice Cream and Other Delights
Baguus Little Asia Cafe will be opening soon and besides doing the mural for one wall, I’ve been asked to do some illustrations of some of their featured dishes. I’m still working on this suite but thought I’d put a few out there. The desert item above features Ube ice cream, derived the Philippine purple yam with the vivid color.
Namul dishes are common to Korea where they comprise a wide variety of vegetable (most often) side dishes to a meal. Like his Dragonfish Cafe before this, owner Takao Kikuchi strives to present a pan-asian menu, bringing together recipes from across Asia and SE Asia.
When I first saw this I thought that it was some kind of cake until I saw the green onions on top. Instead a savory and spicy sauce poured over a tofu preparation.
