Pink Rhumba

Pink Rhumba - acrylic on paper; 22 x 30”.

Still on an occasional drum kit jag, I felt drawn to do a retro version using this deep vivid palette of pinks, cerise, magenta and violet. For me these colors invoke a lot of the feeling of Latin jazz and percussion. Colors used: Quinacridone Magenta, Quinacridone Crimson, Transparent Pyrrole Orange, Pyrrole Red Light, Carbon Black, Manganese Blue, Ultramarine Violet, Paynes Gray, and Alizarin Crimson Hue. Size: 22” x 30”; 300 lb cold press Arches watercolor paper with deckled edges on the side (cropped off in this photo). The background pigment bleeds off all four edges.
