Ping Pong in the Library

DWN UNDR: Ping Pong Wall (detail); R Williamson; acrylic on drywall; 8/22

An additional wall graphic for Dwn Undr is in what is known as the Library. Basically a large common area adjacent to Woods Coffee and above the stairwell that leads to Dwn Undr. People come there to sit, converse, and work. My client arranged to use some of the blank walls as areas to emphasize his existence downstairs and the games that can be played there.

Ping Pong was a fun way to address a lot of wall space while still keeping it fairly light with the paint coverage, which fit the aesthetic of the space.

I puzzled for a bit as to how best get the lines and arcs that I wanted - digital projection, vinyl stencil, etc? In the end, I went for flat out freehand, using blackboard chalk to make some soft guidelines which I would then erase with a damp sponge if they still showed after painting. This old school method saved time, money, and materials.
