Shell/Barnacles; R Williamson; digital painting; 7/23

No longer on Orcas but I started these two while still on the island. Whereas a posting from several days ago had similar subjects as watercolor studies, these somewhat more elaborate paintings are totally digital. I especially enjoyed doing the shell study as a high contrast piece, emphasizing the beached quality of the old shell and the lavender grey shadows. The splattered look of the young dead crab is shown against a speckled texture of the journal cover, done with a few pen strokes using Procreate.
