Reflecting Pond (Volunteer Park 1)

Reflecting Pond (Volunteer Park 1); R Williamson, acrylic on canvas; 48” x 48”; 11/21

A new painting that is part of what is turning into a series that uses the reflecting ponds at Volunteer Park in Seattle as a starting point. Difficult to describe all the things that this place brings together for me, but I only recently realized that subconsciously reaches back to a childhood drawing experience with my father. He deftly demonstrated how to draw a duck on a pond with a tree on the side. I left out the duck here, perhaps because he father recently passed away.

This large (48” x 48”) canvas has sides that are 2” deep. Signed in the shadows of the bottom left corner.

The photo below shows the piece on a wall with the table lamp and credenza used for scale references.
