Moonlight on Prickly Pear

Moonlight on Prickly Pear; R. Williamson; digital painting; 10/18/21

This is based on a type prickly pear cactus with a very circular cladode. What the heck is a cladode you might ask. Turns out that’s the nomenclature for the what I call the paddles or beavertail-like flattened branches of many cacti. In this variety, there were no spines and in fact the feel was soft and suede-like. Made from a daytime sketch that was reimagined for the night.
