I Portici

I Portici di Cuneo; R Williamson; digital sketch; 10/22

The sidewalks along Via Roma in Cuneo are all covered with vaulted arcades that they call portici. Block after block, under old palaces and civic structures that were constructed 500 - 300 years ago. The local weather leans damper than in the more southern provinces and walkers stay dry in late autumn as they stroll past storefronts with elegant wood facades and glass vitrines where the merchandise is displayed.

A simple sketch done at one of the cafes under the shelter of the graceful masonry arches.
