Golden Cock for The French Guys

Hand painted lifework for The French Guys new retail location; R Williamson; 4/23

One of two rather large roosters with attitude for the upcoming retail location of Seattle bakers The French Guys, formerly an all pop-up and farmer market-based affair. The painting was all about speed and simplicity, and tying the look in with the deep gold color of various other interior elements (not seen in the photo). A days work total for both sides. The gold paint itself is a mix of Golden Iridescent Deep Gold, Pale Gold Bronze Powder, some acrylic medium and a bit of the background color, all stirred together.

Location is the former Joe Bar on north Capital Hill across from the former Harvard Exit Theater, a charming and quirky space in the historic Loveless Building. Owners Thiebault and Renaud will be opening the doors there in early May, ‘23.
