Figures for a Gabbeh 1 & 2

Figures for a Gabbeh 1; R Williamson; 2016; 18” wide X 26” tall; paint and plastic on canvas panel

A pair of small paintings that use lines incised in  acrylic plaster to define the scrawled figures in various seated positions. Faded and buried in some cases, rubbed with a dark black paint in others. Inspired by mid-eastern rugs and textiles and the simplicity of depictions in gabbeh rugs, evoking the raw quality of the weaving and design.

The canvas support has been stretched around a deep stretcher reinforced with a thin panel (not seen). There is a braided steel wire attached to d-rings on the back for easy conventional hanging. Signed with date and title on the back.
